    Seat Belt Retractor vs. Pretensioner

You may be wondering what is the difference between a seat belt retractor and a pretensioner and which one you need to repair. Well, the seat belt retractor is the most common type of seat belt that locks up. It is also the main seat belt, also known as the male and looks like this:

This is where the coil spring and the gas charge is. It is also the reel from which the seat belt webbing retracts. Then, we have the buckle pretensioner that looks like this:

Your buckle pretensioner may or may not have a gas charge in them. That easy way to identify is if the buckle housing looks like an accordion and is compressed after a crash.

    Airbag Light Reset

If your airbag light is on, an Airbag OBD scanner can help you retrieve the codes to help identify the problem. However the OBD scanner cannot clear any crash data and hard codes. Whether you have a Snap-On, Autel, Maxisys or any other brand, it does not matter. Even a dealer cannot reset your airbag light due to crash data stored after accident. An SRS airbag module replacement would be the only option and that costs hundreds of dollars! Luckily we offer an SRS airbag module reset service for $49.99. You will need to remove your SRS computer out of the car and mail it in to us.
